The Challenge
The aim for the platform was to connect patients in hard to reach areas with the research centre doctors and medical professionals. This was to be solved via a mobile application which helps improve access to high quality healthcare for those in remote areas. The application was required to include video, audio and text chat communication methods, as well as video and photo exchange between doctors and patients. It was also integral that the application operated in compliance with the HIPAA regulations, due to the sensitivity of medical data.
The Solution
Our team developed iOS and Android mobile applications that securely connects the patient’s nurse in remote areas with the client’s doctor via video, audio or text chat communications. In addition to the mobile apps, our team also developed a web portal for managing video conferences, users, and patient cases.
Our client wanted to provide doctors in various locations with maximum capability for remote examinations. Therefore, we made it possible to upload and store high-resolution videos and photos taken by the patients. It was then possible to attach these directly to the Electronic Health Records (EHR) in the mobile application or patient portal, streamlining the process. Patients can also upload external examinations and laboratory results.
